HTC Today announced the upcoming launch of HTC Surround smartphone in USA and other counties in the world. The HTC Surround is a Windows phone 7 based smartphone, which have great multimedia and entrainment features. The first thing that we notice in HTC Surround is a slide-out speaker fixed in the landscape orientation. This speaker along with Dolby Mobile and SRS WOW HD produces the best ever audio quality in HTC smartphone lineup. Earlier we needed a headphone for an above average music experience in a music or video player. With HTC Surround, playing music, gaming and watching movies are at its best that we can get from a mobile device. The hardware specifications of the HTC Surround are almost similar to the HTC HD7, except the screen size and the slide-out speaker.

As we mentioned earlier, HTC Surround is a Windows phone 7 based handset. HTC has included HTC Hub application in the default Windows UI, which you can use to access the HTC weather service and other widgets. Coming to the hardware specs, HTC Surround includes a 3.8 inch capacitive  touch screen with 16 million color support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution. Thanks to the Windows phone 7 hardware requirements, HTC Surround has a 1GHZ Snapdragon processor with inbuilt graphics processor. The 5MP camera in HTC Surround backed with an LED flash support, sports HD video recording at 720p. The device comes with kick-stand in the back side of the speaker slid-out system. 8GB storage is inbuilt in the device and is not expandable. Other features of HTC Surround includes Bluetooth with A2Dp, WLAN, A-GPS, Micro USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Microsoft Pocket Office, digital compass and Li-Ion 1230 mAh battery.

HTC Surround price and launch date

HTC and AT&T will launch HTC Surround in USA, from this December. The expected market price of  HTC Surround in USA is $200 with two year contract. The contract free version of HTC Surround will be available in Asian and European countries by the Q1 of 2011. Updated: Best Buy has started taking HTC Surround pre-orders at a price $550 for unlocked model and  $199 for model with two years AT&T contract.
